Bridges

Dr. Jaros would like to remind her Austin, TX, area patients how important it is to replace missing teeth.

In fact, if you are missing just a single tooth and don’t replace it, it can lead to other much more serious problems.

Over time, your remaining teeth will shift to fill in the gap left behind by one or more missing teeth.

That can throw off your bite, cause your teeth to become worn and can even lead to problems with your jaw, to name just a few of the many negative circumstances that can result from not replacing missing teeth.

Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to resolve the situation. One of the most popular are tried-and-true dental appliances that have been used for many years: dental bridges.

Types of Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges Austin Dental Works

Dr. Jaros offers her patients two types of dental bridges: a “fixed bridge” that is permanently fitted and not removable by the patient; and a removable bridge that can be removed by the patient in much the same way as a set of dentures can be removed.

Both types are effective ways to replace one or more missing teeth. Dr. Jaros can help you decide which type would be best for you.

Important Information about Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is relatively simple in design, but extremely effective.

A bridge is made up of one or more porcelain crowns set into a metal frame that has brackets on either end. Those brackets attach to the patient’s natural teeth on either side, which ensures that the bridge is held firmly in place.

Modern bridges offer many advantages to patients – not only is the dental porcelain used to create the crowns extremely strong and durable, it can also be made to exactly match the shade of the patient’s natural teeth. The result is that no one will ever have to know that you’re wearing a dental appliance!
